Zubsolv is a sublingual tablet that is dissolved in the mouth under the tongue. It is generally taken once per day.

Step-by-Step Guide on How to Take Zubsolv

Follow these dosage and administration steps to take Zubsolv:[1]

1. Wash and thoroughly dry your hands. Your hands need to be completely clean and dry before touching the medication.
2. If your mouth is dry, take a sip of water. You can rinse your mouth and spit the water out or swallow it.
3. Open the blister pack carefully. Take out the directed dosage. Only take more than one tablet if your medical provider requires that you take more than one at a time.
4. Take Zubsolv at the same time each day. After your induction period, Zubsolv is taken once daily.
5. Place the tablet under your tongue. If you are required to take more than one tablet, place them at different places under your tongue at the same time.
6. Allow the medication to dissolve completely. Do not chew or swallow the medication before it is dissolved, as this will mean that it will not work the way it is intended to.
7. Stick to the required and prescribed dosage. On day one, people on short-acting opioids that are in opioid withdrawal will often take a split dosage (two times per day) of up to 5.7 mg buprenorphine/1.4mg naloxone. On day two, the dosage is increased to a single dose of 11.4 mg buprenorphine/2.9 mg naloxone. The target maintenance dosage for Zubsolv is 11.4 mg buprenorphine/2.9 mg naloxone.

Zubsolv is a medication for OUD that is an effective component of a complete addiction treatment program. It is a prescription medication that needs to be used exactly as directed. 

Be sure to talk to your health care provider about any other medications you are taking to ensure that there will be no interactions. Be honest about the last time you took an opioid drug. 

Zubsolv contains both the partial opioid agonist buprenorphine and the opioid antagonist naloxone in the following dosage administrations:[2]

• 0.7 mg buprenorphine/0.18 mg naloxone
• 1.4 mg buprenorphine/0.36 mg naloxone
• 2.9 mg buprenorphine/0.71 mg naloxone
• 5.7 mg buprenorphine/1.4 mg naloxone
• 8.6 mg buprenorphine/2.1 mg naloxone
• 11.4 mg buprenorphine/2.9 mg naloxone

Zubsolv is designed to be taken in the lowest maintenance dose possible as a sublingual tablet once per day to keep opioid withdrawal symptoms managed. You need to take this medication in the dosage and method as prescribed by your health care provider as part of a complete opioid addiction treatment program. 

Zubsolv can precipitate opioid withdrawal, especially in the case of longer-acting opioids, and will need to be managed accordingly. This can mean starting with a buprenorphine-only medication before switching to a combination medication containing naloxone such as Zubsolv.
